What features should you look for when comparing golf trolleys before buying?
Price
We don't want to say too much about this. Ultimately, everyone must
decide for themselves how much money a golf trolley can cost. We offer
trolleys in the medium price segment and have focused and specialised on
and have focussed and specialised on a super price-performance ratio.
This includes the quality of our products on the one hand, but also the service we offer.
but also the service we offer you in terms of advice before and after the
and also after the purchase (fast response time for questions, uncomplicated
uncomplicated problem solving, etc.).
Stability
A golf bag packed full (clubs, clothing, drinks, snacks, etc.) can quickly reach a weight of 15kg to 20kg. Your trolley should therefore be stable when parked (e.g. on a slope) as well as safe and easy to drive and move. The stability of the electric or push trolley is influenced not only by the workmanship of the frame but also by the wheelbase.
The wider the wheelbase, the more stable and safe the ride. If you have a caddy box / locker, the trolley must of course still fit inside. You should pay attention to this when buying so that you don't get a nasty surprise.
Material
Aluminium, stainless steel and titanium are the main materials used in the manufacture of golf trolleys. Aluminium is widely used because it is light on the one hand and stable on the other. One disadvantage of this material is a somewhat increased susceptibility to scratches, as it is somewhat softer than titanium or stainless steel. This disadvantage does not exist with titanium. It is also light, but harder and therefore more stable and scratch-resistant than aluminium. Golf trolleys made of titanium are therefore in a significantly different price range than aluminium trolleys and it should be considered whether titanium is really necessary. Stainless steel is somewhat in between the two materials, both in terms of properties and price. The material is very robust, therefore extremely durable and is also visually a real eye-catcher. If one wants to speak of a disadvantage, then this lies in a somewhat higher weight than with the golf trolleys made of light metals (see next section).
Weight
The weight of the golf trolley plays a role, especially with push trolleys, as they have to be pushed with your own physical strength. If the course is a little steeper up and down, you have to push uphill and brake downhill, which puts strain on your back, hips and knees. Here, the advantage of an electric trolley is that it drives both itself and the equipment comfortably across the course and you can concentrate fully on your game. Only when loading and unloading the car is the weight relevant with the e-trolley and should therefore also not be completely neglected.
Ergonomics
In order to avoid incorrect strain, the handling of the trolley should be adapted to the physical conditions as best as possible. Therefore, handles or handle bars that can be adjusted in height are ideal. There are also different types of handles (I-handle, L-handle, T-handle). Since we did not like the I-handle, we only offer models with T- and L-handle. Which handle is preferred is ultimately a matter of appearance and comfort (1 or 2 hands to steer).
Battery (for electric trolleys)
If you want to be at the cutting edge of technology, you can't get around lithium-ion batteries. Although there are other technologies (e.g. lead batteries), they are heavier and have a shorter life span, which is why they are no longer up to date. Current lithium-ion batteries weigh only about 1/5 of lead-acid batteries and are charged after only two to five hours, much faster than a lead-acid battery, which takes 5 to 10 hours.
The central characteristic of a rechargeable battery is - you guessed it - the mileage or range. Many manufacturers offer batteries with different ranges (often measured in "number of holes"). For frequent players, the larger batteries are the best choice, as they do not need to be charged as often. However, if it is already clear that rarely or never more than 18 holes are played in one day, the smaller batteries are normally always sufficient.
Another factor that should be considered with regard to the battery is its attachment to the trolley. The question here is whether it is permanently installed or (easily) removable. The latter has various advantages for charging and transport and therefore provides a certain degree of comfort.
Pack size
If you often transport your golf trolley in the car, do not want to do without it when travelling or want to store it in a locker / box, you should definitely consider the packing size. In this case, you should therefore think carefully about whether the trolley should be "foldable" or whether it should be "dismountable". Some models (such as our Haicaddys®) can even be "folded & disassembled" - depending on what is needed at the moment - and thus offer maximum flexibility.
Equipment
When it comes to the equipment of golf trolleys, opinions often differ greatly. Some need and use every feature, others are satisfied with the most basic functions and tend to be distracted by too many "bells and whistles". Really useful and practical features include, for example, a battery charge indicator, a downhill brake, a wheel freewheel function or a forward motion function. These features are now available on almost all e-trolleys. If you are looking for additional functions such as a parking brake, USB interface, remote control, etc., you will usually have to pay a little more. So think carefully beforehand about what you really want to use on the tour.
Scope of delivery
For practical reasons, it is often recommended to invest in a scorecard holder and a rain/parasol holder (and the respective umbrella) if these are not included in the scope of delivery. The umbrella will probably rarely be included in the basic equipment, but is definitely recommended (protection from persistent rain and shade on hot summer days). For transport, a transport bag is recommended to prevent the car (boot, back seat etc.) from getting dirty or wet and also to protect the trolley from shocks (e.g. when travelling). It also makes sense to have an extension cable for the battery (if it is to be transported in the bag).
Wheel bags, GPS holders, axle protectors and other accessories are usually available as options.
No matter which trolley variant you choose, we wish you a great game and lots of fun on the round.
And now? Take your time to look at our models with your new knowledge. If you have any questions, we are always happy to help.
